Therapy for Adults Navigating Challenging Life Changes

Life shifts, whether expected or completely out of the blue, can leave you feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure of who you are right now. Therapy offers a space to slow down, understand what’s happening inside you, and reconnect with the parts of yourself that feel steady, capable, and whole.

I provide individual therapy for adults across Michigan navigating the many transitions that unfold across adulthood, including the emotional, relational, and identity changes that can arise during perimenopause.

Changes & Challenges Throughout Adulthood

As we age, we experience many transitions, some expected, some completely surprising. They can be exhausting, disorienting, or even frightening, even when they’re planned. I support adults through the emotional, relational, and practical challenges that come with change.

Examples include:

Early Adulthood

  • Leaving home or navigating new independence

  • Academic or early career pressures

  • Relationship beginnings, endings, or shifting dynamics

  • Becoming a parent or adjusting to new caregiving roles

  • Questions about identity, direction, and who you’re becoming

Midlife

  • Career changes, burnout, or reevaluating priorities

  • Parenting transitions, teens, launching adult children, or becoming a new parent again

  • Caring for aging parents while balancing multiple roles

  • Relationship changes or reevaluations

  • Feeling stuck, restless, or disconnected

  • Shifts in identity, purpose, or what you want next

Later Adulthood

  • Adjusting to health changes or new limitations

  • Navigating retirement or shifts in daily structure

  • Changes in independence or living situations

  • Caring for a partner or managing increased caregiving needs

  • Grief, loss, or redefining meaning in this stage of life

These transitions often overlap with perimenopause, amplifying stress and emotional overwhelm. Therapy gives you space to process, recalibrate, and move forward with clarity.

Women in Perimenopause

Perimenopause is more than a hormonal shift, it’s a whole‑life shift. I help women navigate:

  • Emotional shifts such as mood swings, irritability, anxiety, sadness, or heightened emotional sensitivity

  • Cognitive changes including, overwhelm, difficulty focusing, and mental fatigue

  • Sleep disruptions and physical exhaustion that make daily life feel harder to manage

  • Shifts in identity, confidence, and sense of self, including feeling unlike yourself or unsure who you are right now

  • Changes in relationships, boundaries, and caregiving roles, often creating new stress or tension

  • Grief, aging, and shifting priorities that surface during midlife transitions

  • The impact of hormonal fluctuations on emotions, energy, and daily functioning

  • A desire to regain steadiness, clarity, and self‑trust after a period of feeling off‑center or overwhelmed

Together, we’ll make sense of what you’re experiencing and help you feel grounded, supported, and more like yourself again.
